Bridging the Gap
What is Bridging the Gap?
Bridging the Gap is a project dedicated to connecting and uplifting the horse industry in Ghana. We’re creating space for horse lovers, professionals, and businesses to share knowledge, build community, and raise the standard of care, training, and access across the country. From trainers to tack sellers, riders to vets—we believe every part of the ecosystem matters.
Why it matters
For too long, horse riding in Ghana has existed in silos—with limited access to training, reliable gear, and professional support. We’re here to change that. Bridging the Gap is about transforming horse riding from survival-based to community-driven, professional, and empowering. By highlighting local talent and connecting resources, we’re building a future where everyone—from first-time riders to seasoned equestrians—can thrive.
Bottle Raising a Foal
When baby Sugar lost his mother at only 3 weeks old, we had to step in and make sure he would survive. Between cow milk replacer and cowbell we somehow raised a babyhorse that's now well socialised and thriving.
Emergency Rescue after horse was attacked with a cutlas
When a friend from the outskirts of Accra called to inform us that his horse had been viciously attacked with a cutlas we didn't waste any time to check on him and do what needed to be done.
Free Dewormer for Accra Horses
In our most recent effort to prevent disease rather than rush to emergencies we have started rounds of free deworming for horses in Accra. So if you're a horse owner in Ghana and want to get your horse free deworming, don't hesitate to reach out.
Some things we have done that we are proud of
Phase 1

Facing the truth
Phase 1: Facing the Truth
We’re starting by acknowledging what’s really happening on the ground.
In Ghana, too many horses are underfed, mistreated, and barely surviving. There’s no structured education for horse care or riding, no certified training for professionals, and no reliable access to veterinary care. Most people working with horses are doing their best—with limited knowledge, outdated methods, and no support. It’s time to change that!
This phase is all about understanding the landscape, documenting the challenges, and gathering the stories and data that will guide our next steps.
Phase 2
Building the Network
Change can’t happen in isolation. We’re building a network of people who care—professionals who want better for horses and the humans around them.
We’ve already started working with a Swedish equine vet, a UK-based farrier, and we’re actively looking for more partners, locally and internationally. Whether you’re a rider, trainer, vet, stable owner, or simply passionate about horses—this is your invitation to join the movement.
This phase is about connection, collaboration, and creating the support system we’ve never had.

Phase 3 Education,Community & Certification
Once the foundation is laid, we’ll launch programs that focus on:
-
Hands-on education for grooms, riders, and horse owners
-
Community events that create space to learn and grow together
-
Certification pathways for different horse professions—bringing structure and recognition to the work people are already doing.
This will be the first step toward a professional, ethical, and empowered equine industry in Ghana.
Phase 4 Founding the school
The long-term goal is bold and deeply needed:
To found the first-ever school and certification center for horse professionals in Ghana.
A physical space for structured learning, riding, horse care, professional development, and community.
A place where horse lovers can come to learn the right way—from feeding and vet care to riding and teaching.
This is the future we’re working toward.
Step by step. With heart, vision, and grit.
