My Favourite Things to Do with Kids in Accra (2024 Edition)

As a mom living and working in Accra, I’m always looking for safe, joyful and screen-free activities to do with my son. Whether you’re visiting or based here, here are my top picks — places we genuinely love!

1. Play Accra at Safari International School

A bright, clean indoor play centre that encourages imagination and movement. It’s an indoor playground on different levels that even the parents can climb around on. This is the only playground in Accra where parents are allowed to join the activities.

Location: East Legon

Age Range: Toddlers to 8 years

Price: GHS 150+ per child (approx.)

Tip: Great for birthday parties too!

2.Playground at Melcom Mall, Spintex

Simple and fun, this playground is attached to the Melcom Mall and has slides and space to run around.

Location: Spintex Road

Age Range: 3–10 years

Price: Free

Perk: Treat them to ice cream afterward!

3.Aburi Botanical Gardens

A peaceful escape from the city. Let your kids run under giant trees, climb old trains, and breathe in clean air.

Location: Aburi Hills (45 mins from Accra)

Age Range: All ages

Entry Fee: GHS 10–20 per person

Bring: Snacks, water, and a picnic mat!

4.Legon Botanical Gardens

This outdoor park has everything: zip lines, rope bridges, canoe rides, and open space for soccer or tag.

Location: Legon

Age Range: 4+

Price: Varies by activity, around GHS 30–80

Good to know: Wear closed shoes and bring hats.

5.Caramel Corner Market – last Sunday of the month

A fun, creative market with food, handmade goods, and a kids’ zone! Perfect for Sunday chill vibes with the whole family.

Tip: Come early for parking and shade.

6. Horse Riding or “Meet the Horses” Day – with Horse Riding XP Ghana

This is one of the most unique and magical experiences for kids in Accra — and one we offer with love and care.

We introduce children to the world of horses through riding, feeding, brushing, and games that build confidence. It’s a peaceful, heartwarming experience for animal-loving kids — and we’re proud to make it accessible in Ghana.
